New York Central Steam and Diesel: Volume 1

1. An H5 Mikado switches cars at the Utica, NY yard.

2. A Niagara flies past with the 20th Century Limited. Then, we hear the New England States Express depart with a Hudson. These two clips were recorded on the same night, in Utica.

3. Three clips in Utica, three Hudsons. One with an eastbound fast mail train, two with westbound passenger trains.

4. Three clips at a grade crossing in Oriskany, NY. An L4b Mohawk leads a westbound freight, followed by eastbound and westbound passenger trains led by Niagaras.

5. Three clips in Utica. First, a westbound freight with three GP40s. Second, an eastbound freight with a mix of GP40s and U25Bs. Finally, a westbound freight with a GP40, GP30, GP35, and GP9.

6. First, an eastbound (EB) with the usual mix of U boats and GP40s. Next, an EB junk train with GP9, F7A, GP35, GP40. Last, another EB junk train with F7A, F7A, GP35, GP9. All three clips were recorded at Utica station.

7. Chatham, NY (on the old Boston & Albany) is in the middle of an eastward grade. We hear two freight trains make the climb: one with an F7A, two U-boats, and two GP40s; the other with two U30B demonstrators and two GP40s.
